Cars in German Town Found Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Officers reported they were contacted by a resident who noticed a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish fluid

Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.

Law enforcement say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.

The fluid had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police report preliminary tests show the fluid was likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no clue as to its source; officials are currently not informed of any harm in association with the occurrence," they commented.

City officials stated they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the community for information.

An important representative stated the attack rendered him stunned and needed to be solved promptly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a gunman targeting individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
